MIT Flyfire robots

Gizmodo had a cool link to an MIT project for a swarm of tiny LED robots that can be organized to produce, well, a mobile Lite-Brite. They have small-scale tests now, but this video shows off what could happen. Imagine a laser show that actually takes place outside in the night sky.

One Response to “MIT Flyfire robots”

  1. Add miniaturization, Tesla power transmission, and a magnetic field (for rapid acceleration). I could imagine a desktop, contained 3d display for video. The beauty is no wires, variable “pixel” density, self-healing, fine-tunability, the pixels emit instead of reflect, … Good luck to them.
